Ear Correction Surgery
The surgical procedure to correct or re position prominent ears is commonly refereed to as Otoplasty or Pinnaplasty procedures. If you are unhappy with the shape, size or position of your ears you may benefit from a surgical ear correction procedure.
The ear correction procedure can be carried out using a general or a local anaesthtic and normally takes around 1 – 2 hours. The procedure is relatively simple, so will be carried out as a day case.
The procedure involves your consultant plastic surgeon making an incision behind your ears. They will then correct and re-position the ear. They may require to remove a piece of the cartilage to reduce the angle of the ears and position them closer to your head. The incision is then stitched closed and head bandages applied.
